FOUNDER

RODRIGO GUTIERREZ

Corialent

12 years ago, Rodrigo decided that the Coca Colas of the world shouldn’t be the only ones who get to have all the fun in the advertising industry. He was sick of all the dull, corporate, navy blue and white B2B work out there. Business people are people too. Corialent specializes in B2B marketing that doesn’t suck. And they want to get the rest of the industry drinking that delicious KoolAid.

Dealing with Difficult Conversations

Dealing with Difficult People can be quite challenging. Even if you have been in business for decades, it is still not easy. In fact, many people who have been successful at what they do now consider themselves to be geniuses. There is no question that some people are born winners while others have to work at it and develop skills and strategies to become successful. However, what is also true is that some of the world's best leaders and most successful business owners were also geniuses when they were starting out.

Difficult people come in all shapes and sizes. There are those who excel at almost everything they do while other people are poor performers. It is their nature to test you. They want to see if you are able to handle the ups and downs of life. In order to succeed at working with difficult people, you need to understand them first.

The first thing that you need to do is to avoid getting involved with any situation where you will be confronted with a person who is blowing off steam. Difficult people can turn on the smallest thing. In order to avoid this, just walk away. Once you have avoided taking part in an argument, you need to look for something more worthwhile to do with your time. Do what you enjoy best while you are thinking about it.

Difficult people can be very insecure. They will tend to pick a fight with every person they meet. If you are dealing with a diffident person, you need to be very careful with how you react when this happens. You might hurt their feelings and you will also damage your own standing in the office.

Another thing to keep in mind when you are dealing with people who seem to have problems is to let them vent. Don't sit there and give them the floor. They will probably throw a fit if you do so. Just stay back and let them speak their thoughts. They too are entitled to have their say.

There is one other thing you can do when dealing with diffident people. It is called being sensitive. This basically means that you should not take offense whenever things go wrong. Even when they have made a silly remark, you should be willing to listen to them.

Sometimes all you have to do is to simply ignore them. Being unacquainted with these individuals could get you into a lot of unnecessary arguments. Ignoring someone could make them feel that they have won when nothing has actually happened. If they continue to talk, leave them alone. Do not give them your full attention either unless they really deserve it.

Dealing with diffident people can be very tough at times. However, if you follow these simple rules you will find that life gets easier. In the end, you will come out a much happier person. If you are able to get through a difficult situation without saying anything by yourself, then you are considered to be a winner. You have the choice to stay oblivious to the world and deal with your problems at a personal level or face the world head on and deal with it as best you can. The choice is yours.

Difficult people can be difficult to deal with. However, it doesn't mean that you should just sit back and let them run their business. Difficult people create situations in which they seem unreasonable. When you are dealing with such individuals, try to see things from their point of view. Try to understand how they arrived at their opinions and try to see where they might be wrong.

Diffident people usually like to think of themselves as right. They often say things like; "I know that you are wrong because I am so right." Try to ignore these types of statements and do not respond to them. Instead, acknowledge their point of view, try to understand what they are saying, and tell them that you understand where they are coming from. It is important not to start an argument.

If diffident people continue to create problems for you, ignore them. Do not respond to their arguments, do not argue with them, and do not engage with them in any way. This will allow you to deal with them in a much more effective manner.
